An area of harbours, mudflats and sabkhas to the west of Kuwait City reached by following the 7 Ring Road and then access to the peninsula is via the Doha Road next to Entertainment City
This area does include Doha Nature Reserve for which you require a permit to access.
Doha Peninsula is found on the West side of Kuwait Bay and is undoubtedly the best high tide wader staging area in the country in terms of sheer numbers and variety of species present on passage. Waders include; Lesser and Greater Sand Plover, Curlew Sandpipers, Dunlin, Broad-billed and Terek Sandpipers, Little Stint, Common Ringed Plovers, Bar-tailed Godwits, Greenshank, Whimbrel and Eurasian Curlew to name a few.
Many other species are also recorded here including; Crab-plover, Grey and Western Reef Herons, Great Cormorants, a variety of Gull and Duck species in winter, Eurasian Oystercatchers, Pied Avocets, Greater Flamingo, Eurasian Spoonbill etc.
The Intertidal mudflats are home to a few species of Mudskipper, some unique crabs.
Provide Environment Information Boards of bird species in the Doha Nature Reserve.
Aim to protect the whole Doha Peninsula as a proposed IBA due to its importance as an annual wader staging area in migration.
