Vagrant. A strikingly beautiful and very rare crane. It is sometimes seen in winter, and sadly also shot by hunters. Sometimes migrating flocks are observed in flight; 100 observed at Al Abraq in mid September 1996.

Only 8 scattered records for Kuwait along the coast and in desert areas with water pools.
In the world 
It has an extremely large range with a stable population and it migrates on a narrow front via specific routes, and may travel vast distances without alighting to rest or feed.
