Extremely rare vagrant. A long distance travelling seabird. A flock of 25 were observed in mid May 1957 near Shuaiba. The species may occur more frequently, since Kuwait’s seas are poorly monitored.

Very rarely recorded inside the Arabian Gulf.
In the world 
This species has a very large range, it is fairly common to common of the East Coast of UAE all year round. It is a colonial species, nesting in small burrows and crevices in rocks and on earthy slopes on atolls and rocky islets.
Local threats 
Impact of fisheries, although the population trend appears to be stable.
