Information
Vagrant, recorded primarily in early spring but also in the autumn. This powerful and elegant eagle is one of the world’s most widespread raptors, yet it is also vulnerable to poisoning because it will feed on carrion especially during winter.
Where in Kuwait
Only 8 records of this species for Kuwait with the last been seen in the desert area in 2006. In the Middle East, the Caucasus, North Africa they are relatively poorly known.
In the world
This species is one of the best-known birds of prey in the Northern Hemisphere and one of the most widely distributed species of Eagles. Golden Eagles use their agility and speed combined with extremely powerful feet and massive, sharp talons to snatch up a variety of prey.They are monogamous and may remain together for several years or possibly for life. There are six extant subspecies of Golden Eagle that differ slightly in size and plumage and it is the European Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos chrysaetos) that has been recorded in Kuwait.
