Information
Common summer visitor and uncommon resident; breeding colonies of a few hundred exist or have existed on Bubiyan, Warba, Um Al-Maradim and Kubbar. Large numbers are seen even away from the colonies after they disperse; up to 450 at Zour Port mid August 2000.

A coastal and off-shore species often found in mixed flocks of feeding terns. A gregarious species that nests in large dense and noisy colonies on off-shore islands in Kuwait, often together with Swift Tern

It has an extremely large range with a stable population and breeds in subtropical coastal parts of the world. Details of this species's movements are poorly known although some breeding populations appear to be migratory. It is An elegant seabird with a fast and graceful flight
Local threats
Marine oil spills and pollution. Continuous human disturbance during the breeding season on the off-shore islands in summer which can lead to nest desertion.
