Information

Scarce but widespread and regular visitor in winter. One of Eurasia’s most widespread thrushes. Although a shy bird, its distinctive alarm calls easily make its presence known.
Where in Kuwait
The male is an all black bird with a bright golden yellow bill. It is found from city centres to mature gardens and parks and has been recorded along the coast at Green Island, at Jahra Farms and as far west as Al Abraq
In the world
It has an extremely large range with a stable population and breeds in temperate Eurasia, North Africa, the Canary Islands, and South Asia. Populations are sedentary in the south and west of the range, although northern birds migrate south as far as northern Africa and tropical Asia in winter. The Common Blackbird, unlike many black creatures, is not normally seen as a symbol of bad luck and is the national bird of Sweden.
