Uncommon passage migrant and winter visitor. Dispersing birds are found singly or in groups (max. 200)
Where in Kuwait 
Seen in a wide variety of habitats; farmland, sewage outfalls, traffic roundabouts, roadside grassy patches and both saline and freshwater pools and wetlands.
In the world 
This species has an extremely large range and most populations of this species are partially migratory, making long-distance dispersive movements related to food resources in connection with seasonal rainfall It does breed across the border in Iraq.
Local threats 
The species need large-insects, amphibians and small-sized vertebrates to feed on and although it is usually found in artificial farmland environments in Kuwait, habitat degradation and pesticides may affect local populations.
