Information

Uncommon passage migrant, scarce summer visitor. Widespread heron frequently seen in ditches and marshy fringe habitats. Migrates in small flocks, with up to 60 seen in mid September 1981.
Where in Kuwait 
Wherever there is suitable habitat inland or on coastal mudflats and is found in the East in Jahra, south in Khiran and as far west as the Al Abraq desert oasis.
In the world 
The species has an extremely large range and inhabits permanent or temporary freshwater wetlands. Its feeds solitarily or in small groups of 2-5 individuals although in winter and on migration large feeding flocks may form.
Local threats 
Loss and deterioration of natural and man-made freshwater habitats.
