Information

Uncommon passage migrant and rare winter visitor. A medium-sized eagle that feeds mostly on snakes and other reptiles.
Where in Kuwait
This raptor uses a range of habitats in it's breeding areas, from fairly dense forest, to open woodland, to arid grassland and semi-desert. Up to 14 were observed on migration in mid October 1989 in a desert area.
In the world
This species has a large range and as the name suggests this species specialises in feeding on snakes, which can measure up to 150 centimeters or more in length and are usually eaten whole, head first.
Local threats
Shooting is still a problem for this and many other species, particularly on migration, despite the fact that they are not even collected after being killed.
