Information

Rare winter visitor; not recorded annually, and usually in small numbers. Has been observed at inland wetlands and mudflat areas along the coast from November to March. Population movements are influenced by severe winter weather.

Generally found singly or in small flocks in sheltered fresh water pools and wetlands like Jahra Pools Reserve.

Those in Britain are considered resident, but most from other countries are migratory.

Shooting is a threat for Geese and Ducks during passage migration.
