Information
Very common passage migrant and uncommon winter visitor; rare summer visitor. The lightest coloured pipit regularly seen in Kuwait. Often on agricultural land and even arid open terrain; up to 35 recorded on passage in early April 2006.
Where in Kuwait
It is found in a wide range of open and dry areas, including sand dunes and dry grassland. Typically it can be found along the coastal zone, on farmlands and desert areas around SAANR and Al Abraq.
In the world
It has an extremely large range and a population that is suspected to be stable in the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats. In Europe, trends since 1982 are uncertain. It breeds in much of temperate Europe and Asia, and northwest Africa. It is a migrant moving in winter to tropical Africa and the Indian subcontinent. It is an undistinguished looking species on the ground, mainly sandy brown above and pale below.
Local threats
Habitat loss and degradation and pesticides.
