Information
Very common passage migrant and rare summer visitor. One of temperate Eurasia’s most widespread warblers. Passes through Kuwait in very large numbers; sometimes over a thousand may be observed during “falls” when birds become grounded due to severe weather.
Where in Kuwait
It is a bird of open country and cultivation, with bushes for nesting and is one of the more common Sylvia warblers on passage and can be found wherever this habitat is found, from the Jahra area to as far west as Al Abraq
In the world
It has an extremely large range and a population that is suspected to be in decline overall owing to ongoing habitat destruction. It breeds throughout Europe and across much of temperate western Asia and is strongly migratory, and winters in tropical Africa, Arabia and Pakistan. It is one of several Sylvia species that has distinct male and female plumages. Like most "warblers", it is insectivorous, but will also take berries and other soft fruit
