Information
Uncommon passage migrant and resident; breeds in Kuwait. A very distinctive Acrocephalus warbler with a dark cap which, like the others, is partial to marshes and reed beds. Its characteristic very hard “tak” call is often heard before the bird is seen in the reeds.
Where in Kuwait
It is a species found in upright aquatic vegetation mostly in the Jahra Bay area where there are reed-fringed pools and outfalls
In the world
It has an extremely large range with a stable population. It breeds in southern Europe and southern temperate Asia with a few in north-west Africa. It is partially migratory. South west European birds are resident, south east European birds winter in the Mediterranean breeding range, and the Asiatic race migrates to Arabia and Pakistan.
