Common resident. First recorded in Kuwait in 1960, this dove explosively expanded its range through much of Western Eurasia, including Arabia. Now it thrives in most farms and cities in Kuwait. Often in flocks in winter, up to 800 recorded in mid January 2007.

In the world
It has an extremely large range and a population that is suspected to be increasing as ongoing habitat degradation is creating new areas of suitable habitat and is a species of dove native to Asia and Europe. It is not migratory, but is strongly dispersive. Over the last century, it has been one of the great colonisers of the bird world. This species typically breed close to human habitation wherever food resources are abundant and there are trees for nesting; almost all nests are within a kilometre of inhabited buildings
