Extremely rare vagrant. A typical high-arctic breeder and long distance migrant wintering in widely scattered coastal mudflat localities usually in large concentrations. It presumably bypasses our region and occurs only irregularly.

A very rare species with only 2 records for Kuwait and all in the Jahra Bay area
In the world
It has an extremely large range and a decreasing population and is a full long-distance migrant that utilises few stopover sites or staging areas. It breeds in the tundra of the Arctic Circle and outside of the breeding season the species is strictly coastal with preference for large tidal mudflats, but include also rocky shores and beaches.
