Only 1 record for Kuwait in December 2007 on an irrigated farmland where it was found in a cultivated field with crops less than 20 cm tall.
In the world
This species has a large range with a stable population. It is strongly migratory, travelling from mid-August to October along the coast of eastern Asia on a narrow front with few stop-overs. Discovered in Australia in 1840, this species as its name suggests, is the smallest of the curlew species. This species reaches its main wintering grounds in Australia in early September.
Local threats
Agricultural intensification and pesticide contamination.
