Information

Uncommon passage migrant and locally breeding resident; rare winter visitor. Usually a very secretive marsh bird which also seems to be regularly breeding in Kuwait’s few local reed swamps.
Where in Kuwait 
Much the same as the other Crakes found in Kuwait; reed cover around brackish pools in the Jahra area.
In the world 
It has an extremely large range with a stable population that is fully migratory.The species inhabits similar habitats in both its breeding and winter ranges. An omnivorous species that feeds during the day with a diet that consists of aquatic invertebrates, small fish, algae and various grasses.
Local threats 
Wetland degradation, habitat loss and is vulnerable to changes in water levels.
